90 Percent of Children in Turkey Use Artificial Intelligence

According to the preliminary analysis results of the EU Kids Online study, 90 percent of children aged 10-16 in Turkey use artificial intelligence. The research revealed that half of the children have artificial intelligence do their homework and 60 percent are afraid of becoming victims of crime or fake imagery.

Scope of the Research

The results of the international research conducted by EU Kids Online between 2025 and 2026 with 28,465 children aged 10-16 in 19 European countries have been published. Fieldwork and preliminary analyses in Turkey are ongoing to be completed within this scope.

A significant portion of the data for the Turkey leg was collected with the support of the General Directorate of Information Technologies of the Ministry of National Education. The comparative results report between Europe and Turkey is planned to be shared with the public in October.

Artificial Intelligence Usage Rates

In the preliminary analysis based on data from 1,330 children aged 10-16 in Turkey, it was determined that the rate of children who do not use artificial intelligence is approximately 10 percent. Across Europe, this rate was found to be around 33 percent.

According to the obtained data, approximately half of the children in Turkey have artificial intelligence write their homework. While this rate is observed at one-third across Europe, it was stated that one in four children receives emotional advice from artificial intelligence.

Online Security Perception

The research results revealed a significant drop in children's perception of online safety. The proportion of children who feel safe on the internet, which was generally 65 percent in 2020, declined to 48 percent in the latest research.

Specifically in Turkey, the proportion of children who feel safe on the internet was determined to be 32 percent. The proportion of children stating that they encountered an upsetting or disturbing situation on the internet within the last month has shown an increase over the past five years.

Victimization Concerns

Despite children rapidly integrating artificial intelligence into their daily lives, it was noted that their concerns regarding the digital world have also increased. Sixty percent of the children participating in the research stated that they are afraid of becoming victims of a crime or fake imagery in the digital environment.

It was reported that changes have also occurred in parents' approaches to digital problems, with some parents tending to solve problems using technical tools and without direct intervention instead of talking about them.
