Doctors have developed a new artificial intelligence tool that can spot heart failure and valve diseases from routine ECG results in under two seconds.
The newly developed artificial intelligence technology has succeeded in detecting signs of heart failure and heart valve disease in less than two seconds by analyzing routine electrocardiogram results.
Working Principle of the Technology
Trained on data from millions of patients, this groundbreaking technology can extract far more information from a routine electrocardiogram test than the human eye can see.
Although ECG devices, which have been used in medicine for a century, record the heart's electrical activity, they could be insufficient on their own to detect heart diseases.
Clinical Trial Results
In a clinical trial involving sixty-seven thousand patients in the United States, the AI tool detected up to eighty-one percent of heart failure cases.
During the same trial process, individuals with heart valve disease were successfully identified at a rate of up to ninety percent.
Experts' Evaluations
Dr. Sonya Babu-Narayan from the British Heart Foundation stated that the technology could help quickly refer patients at risk of heart abnormalities.
Professor Fu Siong Ng from Imperial College London stated that this system could identify the highest-risk patients and ensure prioritization for ultrasound scans.

Details regarding the development were shared with participants at the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology held in the city of Munich.
Dr. Ahmed El-Medany, who led the analysis, described this developed system as superhuman artificial intelligence.
