Artificial Intelligence Workshop Held at Cornell University

At the event attended by faculty and administrative staff from Cornell and Weill Cornell Medicine, the impacts of artificial intelligence on technology solutions were evaluated.

Purpose of the Workshop and Participants

In early August, 30 faculty members and staff from Cornell and Weill Cornell Medicine came together. Participants met to examine how artificial intelligence can transform the way the university develops technology solutions.

Attendees shared their experiences in developing AI-powered tools, workflows, and applications, aiming to test new approaches.

Non-Technical Challenges Take Center Stage

Many participants realized that the biggest challenges are related to the human factor rather than technical issues. While artificial intelligence accelerates software creation, setting goals and establishing standards have become even more important.

Governance and Institutional Collaboration

During the two days of discussions and hands-on work, a new artificial intelligence development methodology was addressed. The conversations consistently returned to themes of governance, shared practices, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The Value of Human Expertise

Many participants stated that the greatest value of artificial intelligence is not to replace human expertise. The system creates more opportunities for humans to focus on problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration.
