Atatürk University Launches Local Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure AtaZeka
Atatürk University has started using artificial intelligence in academic processes while protecting its corporate data with a 1,500-square-meter data center and the domestic AtaZeka platform.
Atatürk University has established its local artificial intelligence infrastructure, AtaZeka, to be utilized in academic and administrative processes by prioritizing corporate data security, and has put its new 1,500-square-meter data center into operation.
Data Center and Infrastructure Capacity
The data center, established within the university covering approximately 1,500 square meters with a capacity of 10,000 servers, provides the infrastructure for training and application studies of local artificial intelligence models.
Developed with Central Processing Unit-based servers and high-performance computing capabilities, this infrastructure is planned to be expanded gradually.
Functions of the AtaZeka Platform
Developed to benefit from generative artificial intelligence opportunities while protecting the security of corporate data, the AtaZeka platform has started to be actively used in academic and administrative processes.
Thanks to the system, various operations such as answering questions, preparing documents and texts, and generating visuals can be carried out securely.
Off-Campus Data Security
While using the AtaZeka platform, documents are strictly never taken outside the university's own infrastructure, and all data is retained within the campus.
Questions entered into the system and all uploaded documents are kept in the university's own infrastructure, preventing external risks.
Training Programs and Goals
Atatürk University is establishing new academic departments and micro-credential programs to increase qualified human resources in the field of artificial intelligence.
The number of short training programs providing knowledge and skills in specific fields is targeted to reach 100 by the end of 2026 and 1,000 by September 2027.
Statements by Rector Hacımüftüoğlu
Atatürk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu stated that the 2026-2030 Artificial Intelligence Action Plan is an important roadmap for Turkey.
Hacımüftüoğlu emphasized that their goal is to transform into a university that not only uses artificial intelligence but also produces it, trains human resources, and manages its own data.
Artificial Intelligence Usage Policy Board
A special board has been formed at the university to regulate the use of generative artificial intelligence in educational and instructional processes.
In this direction, 27 faculty members, 2 administrative personnel, and 8 student representatives at the undergraduate and graduate levels were elected to the board.
