13 suspects detained for shipping counterfeit health products abroad
In an operation conducted in two provinces centered in Istanbul, suspects involved in shipping counterfeit products and conducting unregistered money transfers were apprehended.
In simultaneous operations carried out in Istanbul and Ankara, 13 suspects who sent counterfeit health products abroad and carried out unregistered money transfers were captured.
The Start of the Operation
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch initiated an investigation under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Action was taken upon reports that counterfeit health products were being sent abroad through illegal means and that product payments were being brought into the country unregistered.
Financial Investigations and MASAK Report
In line with the financial investigation reports prepared by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), money transfers inconsistent with the financial profiles of the suspects were placed under scrutiny.
Simultaneous Raids
Following the investigations, simultaneous operations were organized on September 9 in Istanbul and Ankara at predetermined addresses. A total of 13 suspects were detained during the raids.
Seized Materials
During searches conducted at the addresses, 9,548 boxes of dietary supplements, 75 boxes of medication, and 69 boxes of health patches were seized. It was reported that the procedures of the suspects at the police station are ongoing.
