Researchers at Cleveland Clinic are examining how artificial intelligence can assist in prostate cancer diagnosis by exploring ways to accelerate the process, detect suspicious regions, and calculate probability risks.

MRI Imaging and Biopsy Process

Dr. Andrei Purysko, a diagnostic radiologist at Cleveland Clinic, stated that MRIs are used by urologists to decide whether a patient needs a biopsy and to determine where tissue samples should be taken to accurately detect cancer.

AI-Powered Image Analysis

Researchers are examining how artificial intelligence can contribute to diagnosis. The technology rapidly delivers the results of images analyzed by computer algorithms to radiologists, speeding up the interpretation process and potentially providing more accurate results.

Identifying Suspicious Locations

Replacing older scoring systems, the new program can detect suspicious locations while also providing risk ratios for cancer probability and offering better guidance to surgeons during biopsies.

Clinical Trials and Standard Practice Goal

While increasing efficiency and helping patients receive results faster form the core motivation for working with the software, the AI technology is currently used as part of a clinical trial and is hoped to become a standard practice in the future.
