Defendant Who Produced Child Abuse Imagery with Artificial Intelligence Sentenced
A former school vendor who used artificial intelligence to transform children's photographs into abuse material received a prison sentence as a result of the trial.
In Georgia, 49-year-old former school vendor Ronald Richardson, who used artificial intelligence to transform photographs of local children into sexual abuse material, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Trial and Court Decision
Cobb County Senior Judge Grant Brantley sentenced Ronald Richardson to 60 years in prison during a hearing held on Wednesday. Of this sentence, 40 years were approved to be served in prison, with the remainder under conditions of supervised probation.
Charges and Evidence
At the trial in August, the defendant was convicted of 118 separate counts of child sexual abuse after altered images and videos belonging to children in the region were found on his electronic devices.
Beginning of the Investigation
The investigation began in December 2024 when a Gilmer High School student reported to the school resource officer that a vendor who stocked vending machines at the school had asked for photographs on social media.
Detention and Device Inspections
Law enforcement forces arrested Richardson in January 2025, and searches conducted at his home, in his vehicle, and on his digital devices yielded hundreds of illegal files.
Future Sanctions
Following the trial process, it was reported that the defendant will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
