Dentists' Approach to Artificial Intelligence-Based Implant Assessment
A new study involving 450 dentists revealed experts' trust in artificial intelligence, awareness levels, and barriers to the technology.
A comprehensive study examining the role of artificial intelligence in evaluating dental implant success and failure was conducted with the participation of 450 dentists. The survey results showed that professional title, age, and experience are decisive in professionals' approach to artificial intelligence.
Scope of the Research
Within the scope of the research, the opinions of a total of 450 dental professionals consisting of 150 general practitioners, 150 academicians, and 150 trainees regarding artificial intelligence were gathered.
Differences Between Professional Groups
Significant differences were identified among the groups in terms of awareness and acceptance levels regarding artificial intelligence applications. Academicians had the highest awareness, followed by trainees and general practitioners.
Trust and Acceptance Rates
Complete or high trust rates in artificial intelligence predictions were determined as 56.7 percent for academicians, 46.7 percent for trainees, and 26.7 percent for general practitioners.
Barriers to Utilization
While education and lack of training were generally reported as the most frequent barriers, general practitioners highlighted costs, whereas academicians emphasized ethical and legal concerns.
Adoption Trends
While trainee status, being an academician, familiarity with artificial intelligence, and high trust factors were positive determinants, increased age and experience reduced willingness.
