Security Measures for Artificial Intelligence

Devoting a significant portion of his remarks to rapidly advancing artificial intelligence technology, the Secretary-General called for the establishment of oversight mechanisms that build trust and render the technology transparent, safe, and accountable.

Global Conflicts and Call for Peace

Highlighting the massive devastation in Gaza and the war between Russia and Ukraine as particularly concerning areas, Guterres urged leaders to turn to diplomacy and dialogue to end these conflicts. He also reiterated calls for a two-state solution in the Middle East and a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

Reform Without Compromising Principles

Acknowledging the need for reform in global institutions, including the UN, Guterres emphasized that updating structures must never mean abandoning principles. He invited member states to uphold the UN Charter and defend international law.
