Google Cloud introduced a universal Gemini AI agent designed for the business world along with specialized solutions for various sectors. At the same time, European Union tech chief Henna Virkkunen emphasized that the AI act provides safeguards against potential risks.

Google Cloud unveiled its new universal artificial intelligence agent as part of Gemini at Work 2026, announced during Thomas Kurian's keynote speech. This technology was developed to accelerate businesses' information processing workflows and daily operations.

Capabilities and Integration of the Gemini Agent

The universal Gemini agent manages information-focused tasks, answers questions, writes and executes code, and generates visual and media content.

The system integrates with applications such as Gmail, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Chat, and Calendar, secured through identity and policy management.

Sector-Focused Artificial Intelligence Agents

Artificial intelligence agents tailored specifically for financial services, legal, government, healthcare, and retail sectors were also announced as part of the broader unveiling.

Specialized agents for financial services and the legal field have already entered preview, while solutions developed for other sectors are slated for release soon.

Emphasis on the European Union AI Act

European Union tech chief Henna Virkkunen stated that the oversight mechanisms and rules outlined within the framework of the AI act can effectively manage risks.
