Anthropic CEO Amodei emphasized that the exponentially increasing development speed of artificial intelligence serves as a warning sign to slow down the sector, calling for safety standards and joint efforts with governments.

Assessments on Development Speed

In an interview, Anthropic CEO Amodei addressed recent concerns raised by artificial intelligence experts. Stating that artificial intelligence is progressing at an exponentially increasing rate, Amodei expressed that this momentum is not yet fully grasped.

Indicating that progress at this level serves as a warning sign for the industry, Amodei underscored that this does not mean panicking today and shutting everything down.

Safety Standards and Third-Party Audits

Stating that measures capable of keeping pace with the development speed of artificial intelligence are needed, Amodei conveyed that companies must establish safety standards.

Referring to the three-stage plan he published, Amodei argued that the evaluation mechanism is more important than model deployment and that third-party evaluators should play a role in the process.

Government Collaboration and Legal Regulations

Emphasizing that the industry must work together with governments for the success of these measures, Amodei said that legal regulations should not focus entirely on banning the technology.

He stated that a total ban would hinder benefits in medical fields and lead to the technology being developed by authoritarian countries.

Risks and Benefits of Technology

Pointing out that powerful technologies can be used for both good and bad purposes, Amodei noted that risks can be mitigated when built correctly.

Amodei added his belief that this technology will cure diseases that humanity has long suffered from.
