UK-based neocloud provider Nscale aims to raise $3 billion in capital at a valuation of $35 billion through its planned initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Customer Concentration and Risks
According to the company's IPO filing, approximately 85% of its over $103 billion in contracted revenue comes from agreements with Microsoft and Anthropic.
The contract with Anthropic is contingent upon Nscale securing financing, and the AI lab retains the right to withdraw from the agreement if specified strict targets are not met.
Connections in the Artificial Intelligence Sector
According to a report prepared by Sona Asset Management, many infrastructure providers in the industry show an extreme dependency on a limited number of customers.
Similarly, CoreWeave generates 67% of its revenue from Microsoft, while Applied Digital derives 67% of its revenue from Oracle and 30% from CoreWeave.
Financial Performance and Growth
According to data released by Nscale, revenues rose to $140.6 million in the six-month period ending June 30, while net losses widened from $369 million to $1.02 billion over the same period.
Investors and Board of Directors
Earlier in the month, Nvidia agreed to provide Nscale with $1 billion in convertible debt as part of a broader $3.1 billion financing agreement.
The company's board of directors includes prominent figures such as former Meta executives Sheryl Sandberg and Nick Clegg, and former OpenAI executive Fidji Simo.
