Artificial intelligence chipmaker Nvidia has announced that it will acquire software platform Hugging Face for approximately $13 billion. With this major deal, it was stated that the platform will remain open to the entire artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Acquisition Process and Details
AI software and startup platform Hugging Face is being acquired by Nvidia at a valuation of approximately $13 billion (ranging between $12.9 billion and $12.93 billion).
Emphasis on Open Source and Ecosystem
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that the platform will remain open to the entire artificial intelligence ecosystem and that developers will not be required to use Nvidia hardware.
Hugging Face will continue to support multi-cloud and multi-accelerator development processes.
Wide User Network and Data
The platform is actively used by more than 18 million developers, researchers, and creators, and hosts millions of models.
While the system features over 3 million models, 500,000 datasets, and 1 million applications, 200,000 enterprise customers also benefit from this infrastructure.
Structure and Closing Date of the Deal
It was noted that the acquisition structure includes the portion to be paid to shareholders and the share allocated for employee retention, with the transaction expected to be completed in the first half of next year.
