Meta has introduced the Muse Gadgets project, enabling developers to build custom devices that connect to the personal AI assistant Muse.
Meta has announced Muse Gadgets, a new open-source project for its personal AI assistant Muse, which handles tasks ranging from travel booking to filling out forms.
Details of the Muse Gadgets Project
This new open-source initiative launched by Meta allows developers to design and build their own custom hardware that can connect to the Muse assistant.
Software and Hardware Support
To get users started, the company is offering low-level software, open-source firmware, and a Linux software development kit.
Users are also provided with inspiring project ideas, such as color e-ink screen integration or devices that can be plugged into an HDMI port.
Flexible Hardware Options
Users can connect Muse to screens, buttons, sensors, and actuators using low-cost hobbyist computers such as Raspberry Pi or off-the-shelf ESP32 boards.
Muse Home Link Device
Nat Friedman, product manager at Meta Superintelligence Labs, announced the development of a USB-C powered device called Muse Home Link, which allows Muse to connect to a home network.
The company produced 5,000 units of this device and distributed them for free to Muse subscribers while supplies lasted, with deliveries planned within a few weeks.
Enterprise and Business Strategy
The Muse Gadgets project stands out as part of Meta's broader strategy aimed at moving the AI assistant beyond being an ordinary chatbot.
The company also launched the Muse for Small Business version, which integrates with tools like Shopify, Dropbox, and Slack, as well as the Meta Enterprise Platform unit.
