New Statistical Reporting Requirement for Businesses Regarding Artificial Intelligence Usage

The National Bureau of Statistics has introduced a new annual reporting requirement called Form 1-AI to monitor the use of artificial intelligence technologies by businesses.

Approved by the order of the Head of the National Bureau of Statistics dated August 24, 2026, and numbered 25, Form 1-AI defines new annual statistical reporting requirements regarding the use of artificial intelligence by businesses and enters into force on January 1, 2027.

Scope of the Form 1-AI Reporting Requirement

The new regulation covers legal entities, branches, representative offices, and other separate structural units with more than 100 employees.

This obligation concerns organizations in agriculture, mining, manufacturing, energy, water supply, waste management, transportation, and certain public administration activities.

Report Submission Dates

Form 1-AI will be submitted once a year, no later than February 25 of the year following the reporting year.

Since the regulation will enter into force on January 1, 2027, obligated institutions will submit their first reports for the year 2027 by February 25, 2028.

Information Headings to Be Included in the Report

Organizations will state whether they use artificial intelligence systems, the reasons if they do not, and their plans for future years.

Businesses using artificial intelligence will provide detailed information regarding the models used, business processes, strategies, IT infrastructure, and security measures.

Legal Responsibilities and Signatures

Failure to submit statistical reports on time or the submission of incorrect data entails liability pursuant to Article 497 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Form 1-AI document must be signed by the head of the institution and the chief accounting officer or persons performing these duties.
