Thunkable Education Pilot for West Virginia Students Builds Future-Ready AI, Entrepreneurship, and App Development Skills

The Thunkable training pilot program, organized to increase artificial intelligence literacy among high school students in West Virginia, has successfully concluded.

Purpose and Scope of the Program

Thunkable announced the completion of its artificial intelligence education pilot program. The initiative aimed for high school students, who are at risk of being affected by changes in the US labor market, to develop creative technologies.

Areas of Application and Participation

Implemented in schools across Monongalia, Kanawha, and Berkeley counties, the program covered students in grades 9 through 12. Approximately 120 students participated as four schools completed the curriculum.

Developed Projects

Using the Thunkable platform, the students designed approximately 80 end-user applications. These apps were prepared to assist their classmates and local communities.

Executive Evaluations

Thunkable Co-founder and CEO Arun Saigalat stated that it was inspiring to see students, who had never coded before, develop applications that help their communities.

Workforce of the Future

Andrew Sweet, Managing Director for Innovation at The Rockefeller Foundation, emphasized that future jobs will reward those who know how to build with artificial intelligence and drew attention to the importance of the program.
