Emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Ethics
Speaking at the Élysée Palace in Paris, Pope Leo stated that training in ethical reasoning must be provided to ensure humanity is not lost in a world where machines invade daily life.
In his address at the UNESCO headquarters, he stated that technology must remain at the service of humanity, otherwise it could turn into an instrument of domination.
Rule of Law and Leaders
Pope Leo expressed that those in power use the law for their own interests and ignore it when it does not suit them. Stating that the concept of justice is bought and sold like a commodity, the pope called on world leaders to respect the rule of law.
France Visit and Schedule
The first official papal visit to France in eighteen years coincides with a period near the end of Emmanuel Macron's term in office.
As part of the visit, a large open-air mass will be held at the Place de la Concorde, and Pope Leo will meet privately with victims of church abuse in Lourdes.
Global Peace and Opposition to War
Set to deliver a speech on European peace in the eastern city of Metz, Pope Leo touched upon the war in Ukraine and called on the world not to remain indifferent to suffering.
He urged leaders never to succumb to the prospect of war and to continue being advocates for peace.
