Opening Event at Konakaltı Culture Center
The 33rd Mugla International Culture and Art Festival opened its doors with the Architecture Meeting held at the Konakaltı İskender Alper Culture Center and received great interest from the city residents.
Ancient Traces and Architectural Evaluations
Architect Ertuğrul Aladağ made comprehensive evaluations regarding the city's Ancient, Middle, and Modern Ages during the meeting and shared important findings.
Drawing attention to the fact that the architectural traces belonging to the ancient period in the center of Mugla have not been researched sufficiently, Aladağ touched upon various archaeological finds and foundation remnants.
History and Status of Archaeological Studies
Stating that archaeological studies in Mugla had started in the past under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Adnan Diler, experts emphasized that these studies did not continue later.
Conservation Culture and Menteşe Municipality
Menteşe Mayor Gonca Köksal Aras stated that it was meaningful for the 19th Architecture Meeting to coincide with the 33rd festival.
Mayor Köksal Aras noted that Mugla's conservation culture beginning to take shape in the 1970s, when it was still newly forming, is a major asset.
Karabağlar Plateau and Living Culture
It was pointed out that the traditional living culture continues uninterruptedly in the Karabağlar Plateau, which is among largely preserved protected areas.
Scope of Cultural Heritage and Plaque Ceremony
Stating that cultural heritage does not consist solely of physical structures, officials emphasized that values such as traditions, customs, and the zeybek must also be protected.
At the end of the event, a special plaque was presented to Architect Ertuğrul Aladağ, who contributed to the festival, by Menteşe Mayor Gonca Köksal Aras.
