Startup Studio Vantora Secures $100 Million in Funding
Formerly known as UP.Labs, Vantora has shifted its focus to physical AI following a $100 million investment from Silversmith Capital Partners.
Vantora, the venture studio previously known as UP.Labs that builds new startups for corporations, has raised $100 million in external funding from Silversmith Capital Partners and changed its strategy.
Investment and Rebranding Process
The venture lab, founded four years ago to build solutions for corporations, has changed its name to Vantora. The $100 million financing round led by Silversmith Capital Partners marks the company's first external investment.
Corporate Partnerships and New Business Model
Vantora works with prominent brands such as Alaska Airlines, Porsche, J.B. Hunt, Wabash, and Ashley Furniture's parent company TDG. In the new era, rather than offering the ventures developed for its corporate partners to the external market, the company builds them directly and exclusively for those partners.
As noted by founder and CEO John Kuolt, this new model provides a dedicated M&A pipeline that allows partners to absorb the newly formed ventures into their own operations and integrate them into their core business lines.
Physical AI-Focused Approach
This shift in the business model has enabled Vantora to focus heavily on physical AI projects. Previously, ideas that were strategic for partners but too sensitive to be brought to the outside world were shelved.
With the new process, major physical AI use cases requiring internal confidentiality have been unlocked, and new steps are being taken in this area with existing customers.
