US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping reached a consensus in various areas of cooperation after holding a comprehensive three-day summit in the capital, Washington.
Although no major breakthrough was achieved as a result of the summit, the establishment of working groups that could prevent the escalation of potential disputes between the two countries was considered an important step.
Artificial Intelligence and Superintelligence Step
The governments of the two countries announced that a special communication mechanism will be established to address AI-related incidents and discuss risks.
The leaders also agreed to use the term superintelligence instead of artificial intelligence when describing the technology, and a dedicated dialogue on the subject is planned for November.
Trade and Military Crisis Communication
The parties shook hands on signing a memorandum of understanding to prevent military crises and strengthen crisis communication.
Additionally, the commitment to reduce reciprocal tariffs on approximately 30 billion dollars worth of goods was extended, continuing the trade truce for another two months.
