The center is becoming operational to increase the US scientific discovery capacity in the field of artificial intelligence and strengthen the national research infrastructure.

This initiative forms the basis of a national public-private sector effort aimed at expanding access to advanced artificial intelligence research capabilities and expertise, contributing to the country's leadership in science and technology.
Duties and Scope of the Center
The operations center will coordinate participating resource providers to integrate computing, data, models, and tools; it will also operate the national portal and provide user support and training.
Executing Institutions and Pilot Project
Managed by the San Diego Supercomputer Center and the Texas Advanced Computing Center, the operations center builds upon the successes of a pilot study launched in 2024 that supported more than 800 research projects.
