US Stocks Rise to the Edge of an All-Time High

United States stocks climbed near record highs on Monday, driven by major acquisition announcements.

General Rise in Markets

A generally upward movement was observed across indices in US stock markets on Monday. The S&P 500 index gained 0.7%, coming within 0.3% of the record level broken during the summer months.

Latest Status of Indices

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index increased by 90 points or 0.2%. The Nasdaq composite index rallied by 1.1%, managing to refresh its own record.

Acquisition Deals

Software company PTC gained 33.5% within the framework of a roughly $22.6 billion deal after Schneider Electric offered $205 in cash per share. Following C.H. Robinson Worldwide's announcement that it would acquire trucking company RXO, RXO shares also jumped 22.5%.

Artificial Intelligence and Nvidia Shares

The emphasis on artificial intelligence by Schneider Electric and C.H. Robinson positively supported shares in the AI industry. In this context, Nvidia shares recorded an increase of 2.1%.

Oil Market and Bond Yields

While fluctuations continued in the oil market due to the war uncertainty in Iran, the barrel price of Brent crude fell 1.9% to close at $100.32. Meanwhile, the US 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.31%.
