UT San Antonio students solve corporate problems with artificial intelligence

UT San Antonio graduate students are developing practical solutions to complex problems faced by public and private sector partners by utilizing data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning under the framework of the Headache Cure Board initiative.

Headache Cure Board Initiative

Launched within the UTSA School of Data Science, this program brings together students from diverse disciplines to focus on real-world problems. The projects are funded by Federal IT Consulting, LLC and conducted under faculty guidance.

Forensic Toxicology and Drug Analysis

Working in partnership with the U.S. Army Forensic Toxicology Program, a student team developed machine learning models to predict the potential toxicity of emerging street drugs. These models serve as an early screening tool prior to laboratory testing.

Artificial Intelligence in the Retail Sector

Developed in collaboration with H-E-B, the AI-powered retail shelf analysis system detects products in shelf images and transforms them into insights that ensure inventory tracking and operational efficiency.

Community Projects and Education

In work carried out with organizations such as NPower and the Fulton J. Sheen Apostolate, students analyzed success factors in technology training programs while also designing digital educational platforms.
