Aviation Cooperation Agreement Between Turkey and New Zealand
With the new memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, air transport relations are strengthened while important decisions regarding traffic rights and intermediate points were made.
An official memorandum of understanding has been signed that takes cooperation in the field of aviation between Turkey and New Zealand to a more advanced level.
Signing Ceremony Took Place
According to the official statement made on the ministry's social media account, the memorandum of understanding in question was signed by Director General of Civil Aviation Kemal Yüksek and New Zealand's Ambassador to Ankara Greg Lewis. It was stated that the main purpose of the agreement is to develop air transport relations between the two countries.
Traffic Rights Are Preserved
It was reported that within the scope of the signed memorandum, the existing right of 14 weekly frequencies of passenger flights will be preserved as is. It was stated that the current transportation capacity between the two countries is thus guaranteed.
Fifth Freedom Traffic Right Granted
Within the framework of the agreement, the airline enterprises to be designated by both countries were provided with the opportunity to use the 5th freedom traffic right at two intermediate points to be determined in the future. This step is anticipated to support commercial and touristic mobility between the two countries.
Global Role Strengthens
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure emphasized that our country continues to strengthen its central role in global aviation with its strong aviation infrastructure and strategic geographical location. This agreement is expected to increase effectiveness in the international arena.
