During the bone marrow transplant process of an 18-year-old youth battling thalassemia, it was revealed that his biological father was different. Following these developments, an ex officio investigation was launched by judicial authorities.
During bone marrow transplant preparations for 18-year-old thalassemia patient Hamid Yorulmaz in Izmir, it was realized that his biological father was different. While his life-threatening treatment process continues, the prosecutor's office launched an investigation into the incident.
The Surprising Truth During the Bone Marrow Transplant Process
The life of 18-year-old Hamid Yorulmaz, a thalassemia patient living in the Torbalı district of Izmir, completely changed with the medical tests performed. The young man, who was left with his father at the age of three and raised by his paternal grandmother and grandfather, went into a coma at age 13. When a blood mismatch was detected in the bone marrow transplant tests carried out during his treatment process, a DNA test revealed that the person who raised him was not his biological father.
Call for Help and Limited Time
Stating that his biological father was hidden from him by his family, Hamid Yorulmaz indicated that he urgently needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. Expressing that he has a critical period of about six months ahead of him for the supply process, the young man asked his mother to disclose the name she knows and support him.
Judicial Investigation and Detentions
Following these events, the Torbalı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an ex officio investigation into the incident. Within the framework of the investigation, mother Nihal Beyit and uncle Mehmet Yorulmaz were detained by gendarmerie teams. While it was stated in the mother's testimony that she pointed to a name outside of Izmir, efforts to determine the identity of the biological father are ongoing.
