18 artifacts belonging to Burdur Museum featured in international exhibition in Copenhagen

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that 18 artifacts from the Burdur Museum collection have begun to be exhibited in the exhibition titled The Power of Fashion in the Roman Empire, which opened at the Glyptotek Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Exhibition Details and Opening

Minister of Culture and Tourism MehmetNuri Ersoy announced in a statement on social media that Burdur Museum artifacts have reached Denmark within the scope of an international exhibition.

Emphasizing that Anatolia's cultural heritage is brought together with art lovers in different parts of the world, Minister Ersoy stated that the artifacts met with visitors at the Glyptotek Museum.

Theme and Scope of the Artifacts

Selected from the Burdur Museum collection, 18 artifacts reveal how clothing, jewelry, and hairstyles reflected identity and social status during the Roman period.

Enriched with pieces selected from the world's major museums, the exhibition features large-scale marble sculptures, archaeological textiles, jewelry, and shoes.

International Cooperation and Publication

The artifacts loaned from the Burdur Museum are exhibited together with pieces from the Glyptotek's own collection as well as the British Museum, the National Museum of Denmark, and the Thorvaldsens Museum.

Edited by Dr. Cecilie Brøns and Anna Manly, an international peer-reviewed scientific publication is also being prepared within the scope of the exhibition.

Visit Duration and Information

Opening its doors on October 1 and bearing the title The Power of Fashion in the Roman Empire, this special exhibition can be visited until March 29, 2027.
