The application process for the 2026 Talât Sait Halman Translation Award, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts to support qualified literary translations, officially began as of August 31.

Application Schedule and Process

Applications for the 2026 award, implemented by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, will be accepted between August 31 and October 2.

Selection Committee Members

Ayşe Sarısayın chairs the selection committee, which will continue its work with new members this year.

Other members of the committee include Emrah İmre, Begüm Kovulmaz, Lale Özcan, and Ayşe Ece.

Who Can Apply?

Applications for the award in question can be made by publishing houses or directly by translators.

Accepted Work Genres

Works nominated must be in the genres of short stories and novels translated into Turkish from their original language.

Additionally, the books subject to the application are required to have an ISBN number.

Application Limits and Conditions

Publishing houses can participate in the process with a maximum of three translated works.

Translators who have previously won this award cannot be nominated again.

Deadline

The nomination form and detailed conditions can be accessed on the foundation's official website.

Application files must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 2 at the latest.
