"Colors of Fire" tile exhibition meets art lovers
The exhibition, which opened its doors at the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, features original works combining classical and modern lines.
The "Colors of Fire" tile exhibition, consisting of works by artist Mümine Ateş and her students, was presented to art lovers with a ceremony held at the Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum.
Scope and Details of the Exhibition
The selection of original designs features a wide decorative repertoire extending from classical naturalist motifs to Seljuk geometry, and from mystical symbols to modern lines.
The exhibition, which carries the aesthetic depth of the Islamic art tradition to the present day, can be visited until August 31.
The Artist's Works and Inspirations
Tile Artist Mümine Ateş stated that they are taking part in the exhibition with her 22 students, and expressed that she sees tile art like a book and tells stories through symbols in her works.
Ateş said that in her work titled "First Separation," she used the story of the snake and the peacock, and in her work titled "Love Panel," she utilized the çintemani motif.
Participants' Works and Special Pieces
Elif Macit Demir, a Fine Arts graduate and calligrapher, shared her story of turning to calligraphy works on tiles, stating that she aimed to ensure a more accurate and proper transfer in calligraphic tiles.
The exhibition also featured a mirror designed by student Fatma Şentürk using the underglaze technique and dedicated to Palestine.
Opening Ceremony and Supporters
It was realized with the contributions of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, IRCICA, the Participation Banks Association of Turkey (TKBB), and Kıztaşı Sanat.
At the opening ceremony, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, IRCICA Director General Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kılıç, and TKBB Secretary General İsmail Vural delivered speeches.
