Details of the 21st Contemporary Istanbul fair, to be held for the 21st time at Tersane Istanbul with the main support of Akbank Sanat between September 23-27, have been announced. This year, the fair hosts 70 galleries from 16 countries and 736 artists, choosing Asia as the focal point of the 21st century.

Press Conference Held

The press conference of the fair took place at the Akbank Campus in Levent, Istanbul, with the participation of CI Chairman of the Board Ali Güreli, Vice Chairman Rabia Güreli, Fair Advisory Board Member Prof. Dr. Hasan Bülent Kahraman, and Akbank Brand and Communications Head Seçil Demiralp.

International Participation and Number of Artworks

Contemporary Istanbul will meet art lovers this year with the participation of 70 contemporary art galleries from 16 different countries. While 1,372 artworks belonging to 736 artists are presented to the audience at the event, it was emphasized that 43 foreign press members attended the fair.

Asia-Focused Themes and Special Sections

Ali Güreli stated that the theme of the fair this year focuses on the continent of Asia, the artists, museums, and collections there. The fair will welcome visitors this year with complex areas such as Solo Shows, New Spaces, and Focus Asia.

Exhibitions and Renowned Names

The fair will feature US actor Johnny Depp as well as sculptors such as Mert Ege Köse, Arne Quinze, Bettina Poutschi, and Thomas Schönauer. The exhibition titled Strange Things Are Happening, curated by Prof. Dr. Hasan Bülent Kahraman, can also be visited at the event.

Special Exhibition in Memory of Mustafa Horasan

The late artist Mustafa Horasan will be commemorated and opened to visitors within the scope of the fair with a special solidarity exhibition curated by Levent Çalıkoğlu.

Transportation and Visitor Conveniences

Among the announced details was that free boat services from the Bosphorus and private shuttle transportation would be provided for visitors using Biletix tickets.
