DatJazz Festival Meets Music Lovers in Datça, Muğla
The inaugural DatJazz Festival in Datça, Muğla, brought together many local and international artists under the umbrella of jazz music.
Held for the first time in Datça, Muğla, between August 19-23, the DatJazz Festival brought different disciplines and a broad roster of artists together with jazz enthusiasts.
The Birth and Purpose of the Festival
Realized by e.t.c. events/collective with contributions from the Governorship of Muğla, the District Governorate of Datça, and the Municipality of Datça, the festival brought cultural vibrancy to the region in its first year.
Datça's unique nature and tranquility integrated with the tones of jazz music, offering participants a distinct artistic experience.
Opening Concert and Early Days
The opening of the DatJazz Festival took place on August 19 at Datça Surf & Beach Hotel with Alp Ersönmez, Çağrı Sertel, and Volkan Öktem, who are part of the Üç project.
In the following days of the event, Paris-raised Greek-French oud artist and vocalist Melina Vlachos performed for music lovers.
International Artists and Special Guests
On the third day of the festival, the Belgrade-rooted band Naked and Jülide Özçelik, one of the prominent names of Turkish-lyric jazz, shared the same stage.
The Elina Duni Quartet, fronted by Albanian-born and Switzerland-raised vocalist Elina Duni, presented a repertoire consisting of Albanian folk songs and Ottoman melodies.
Closing and Future Goals
The closing concert of the DatJazz Festival was performed by the Ada Sanlıman Quartet at Promil Beach with the participation of young names.
Program Director Ülker Uncu stated that the festival aims to make Datça an iconic spot on the global culture and arts map.
