EFEST 2026, organized in honor of the 104th anniversary of Selçuk's liberation, started with a colorful cortege march and an opening ceremony. Throughout the festival, which will continue until September 8, concerts, folk dance performances, book signings, and children's events will be held.
A Magnificent Start with the Cortege March
Led by Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel, a large number of citizens showed intense participation in the cortege starting in front of the municipal service building. The march, progressing with music and dance, ended at the Marketplace.
Emphasis on Unity and Economy by Mayor Sengel
Efes Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel stated in her opening speech that the festival is dedicated to the 104th anniversary of the city's liberation. Sengel wished that the organization would contribute to economic life and local tradespeople.
Folk Dances and Dance Performances Staged
Following the opening ceremony, the Selçuk Municipality Folk Dance Team and the Kakapedia Dance Group provided enjoyable moments for the audience. The performed acts received great appreciation from the participants.
Producer Stands and Book Fair Attracted Attention
Stands opened by producers coming from different provinces of Turkey witnessed intense interest from visitors. Young author Beyza Alkoç, on the other hand, came together with her readers at the book signing day in Book Fair Street.
The First Day Ended with Children's Events and an Orchestra Concert
While Children's Play Workshops offered fun moments for the little ones, the day concluded with a concert by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Smyrna Ensemble Orchestra.
