Fifth Ayvalık International Film Festival Concluded
Organized by the Seyir Association and hosting independent films meeting audiences in Turkey for the first time, the festival has successfully ended.
The Ayvalık International Film Festival, brought together with film enthusiasts for the fifth time this year under the signature of the Seyir Association, has come to an end. Throughout the event, independent productions were screened, alongside discussions and special educational programs aimed at youth.
Scope and Screenings of the Festival
In the festival organized by the Seyir Association, independent films were featured alongside productions, many of which met audiences in Turkey for the first time. In addition to film screenings, discussions were also held.
Record Attendance and Cinephile Goals
At the Open Air Film Nights, the highest number ever was reached this year with 3,000 attendees. Festival Director Azize Tan noted that they maintain their claim of creating a cinephile program rather than focusing on popularity.
Thematic Selections and Special Sections
Among this year's selections, thematic sections focusing on Brave and New, Where Are the Middle Classes Heading, The Consumption of the Commons, and adult animations stood out.
Next Year's Goals and Projects
Goals for the upcoming period include the renovation and opening of the fixed venue, Vural Cinema, through a collaborative project, strengthening the international dimension, and developing the Winter Festival.
Youth Cinema Program and Workshops
Coordinator Merve Genç stated that thanks to the Youth Cinema project, university students and filmmakers came together, and that participating in workshops and the festival kitchen established an important connection.
