Global Success of Turkish TV Series and New Support Policies Discussed in Istanbul
Industry representatives gathered in Istanbul under the auspices of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications to discuss the international rise of Turkish TV series and new support mechanisms.
The program "Global Narrative of the Turkey Brand: Turkish Series," organized by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications in Istanbul, commenced with the participation of Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and Director of Communications Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran.
International Media Program in Istanbul
The three-day "Global Narrative of the Turkey Brand: Turkish Series International Media Program" in Istanbul brought together leading representatives of the sector.
At the meeting, Turkey's global promotion activities and the international role of the TV series sector were comprehensively addressed.
Position in the Global Market and Audience Share
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that Turkish TV series have reached approximately 1 billion viewers in nearly 170 countries.
According to the evaluations made, Turkey ranks among the top three countries in the world in series exports, and series exports have exceeded 1 billion dollars.
New Series Support Policies and Conditions
It was announced that a new era has begun in the support policies implemented for the TV series sector through the General Directorate of Cinema.
With the new regulation, the requirement of having been broadcast for one season has been removed, and supports will be evaluated on a per-episode basis, taking digital viewership data into account.
Cultural Diplomacy and Soft Power
Director of Communications Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran emphasized that Turkish TV series have increased the country's capacity to tell its own story to the world.
Duran stated that the series are an important soft power element in the international arena and make a great contribution to Turkey's promotion.
