Talks Between Cuba and the United States Suspended
Cuba has announced that negotiations with the Washington administration on trade and diplomacy have stopped and the dialogue channel has been closed.
The Cuban government reported that all talks with the United States regarding trade, diplomacy, and other issues have been suspended and the current dialogue channel has come to a complete halt.

Cuban leaders stated that President Donald Trump's administration is unwilling to discuss any issues such as trade or diplomacy that could alleviate the hardships caused by U.S. sanctions.
Diplomatic Contacts
Lianys Torres Rivera, Cuba's highest-ranking diplomat in Washington, announced that no negotiations are being conducted and that the dialogue channel is completely closed.
Emphasizing that her country does not pose a threat to the U.S., Rivera expressed that they demand a relationship based on mutual respect where common priorities can be discussed.
U.S. Policy
President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio aim to force the communist government in Cuba to relinquish its long-standing single-party rule.
While military options are currently sidelined, the administration continues to gradually increase its sanctions against the island in the hope of bringing about economic and political change.
Reforms and Future
It was confirmed earlier this year that some talks had taken place between U.S. and Cuban officials, with Rubio's team meeting with Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, the grandson of Raúl Castro.
Although Cuba indicates its willingness to make economic changes and has announced free-market reform packages, it emphasizes that its form of government and political leadership are not open to negotiation.
