Istanbul Had a Fast Start to the Culture and Arts Season
New festivals and art fairs held in Istanbul, the Zafer Toprak Archive opened at Metro Han, and the restored Muammer Karaca Theatre have joined the city's cultural and artistic life.
Istanbul made a rapid start to the new art season with numerous festivals, exhibitions, award ceremonies, and newly opened cultural venues, once again demonstrating that it is one of Europe's leading art centers.
Culture and Arts Events
Istanbul made a fast entry into the new season as a city hosting multiple festivals, important exhibitions, and performances simultaneously. Events that brought art lovers together at many different points across the city drew great interest.
Award Ceremonies and Fairs
At the beginning of the week, the 27th Sadri Alışık Theatre and Cinema Actor Awards ceremony was held at the Atatürk Cultural Center. The 3rd Furnishing and Design Istanbul opened its doors at Fuar İstanbul, and the 21st Contemporary Istanbul Fair opened at Tersane İstanbul.
Artists and Festivals
Hosted by MÜYORBİR, the International Performers' Collective Management Organizations meeting was held, where artists' rights were discussed. Art Weeks Istanbul started in Akaretler Sıraevler, and 212 Photography Istanbul began across various venues.
Jazz and Culture Route Festival
Istanbul hosted the 36th Akbank Jazz Festival and the initial events of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Istanbul Culture Route Festival, offering a rich program for music lovers.
Opening of the Zafer Toprak Archive
On Thursday evening at Metro Han in Beyoğlu Tünel, the opening of the Republican History Research Center and the Zafer Toprak Archive was held and made available to researchers.
Muammer Karaca Theatre Reopened
Built in 1955 and closed in 2012, the Muammer Karaca Theatre was reopened with a ceremony. The restored theatre building was allocated for the use of independent theatres.
