The program for the 30th Istanbul Theatre Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts under the curation of Mehmet Birkiye, has been announced. The event, to be held from October 22 to December 3, will feature 17 productions from Turkey and abroad.

Festival Dates and Scope

The Istanbul Theatre Festival is preparing to celebrate its 30th year, which holds an important place in Istanbul's cultural and artistic memory.

Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, the festival will meet art enthusiasts between October 22 and December 3.

Curation and Opening Play

Mehmet Birkiye, who took over the baton from Işıl Kasapoğlu, is undertaking the curation duty for the final time this year and is directing two plays in the festival.

The event will open its doors to art enthusiasts on October 22 with the play Lacrima by the Théâtre National de Strasbourg.

Productions Directed by Mehmet Birkiye

The play And Fire Consumes Us, written by Murat Gülsoy, handles the theme of searching for a missing person around the axis of reckoning with the self and the past.

The Oscar Wilde classic The Picture of Dorian Gray, to be staged at the closing, brings together a strong cast including Salih Bademci, Engin Hepileri, and Yiğit Sertdemir.

Honorary Award to Tilbe Saran

This year's Honorary Award of the festival was deemed worthy of master theatre artist Tilbe Saran.

While receiving her award from İKSV Chairman of the Board Bülent Eczacıbaşı, Saran delivered a speech emphasizing her memories of the festival's past and the concept of hope.

Venues and Ticket Sales

Throughout the festival, a total of 17 theatre, performance, and dance productions from Turkey and abroad will be staged in 17 different venues.
