Istanbul Youth Ballet Company Opens New Season with La Bayadère Ballet

The Istanbul Youth Ballet Company is opening its new art season with the famous La Bayadère ballet, which will be staged at the Kadıköy Municipality Süreyya Opera House.
History of the La Bayadère Ballet
Meeting art lovers for the first time in 1877 with choreography by Marius Petipa and music by Ludwig Minkus, this long-standing work has maintained a permanent place in the repertoires of various companies around the world for nearly 150 years.
The Team Behind the Stage
While Dafina Daniloska Kochevska adapts the significant work to the stage based on Marius Petipa’s original choreography, Olga Pango undertakes the directing responsibility of the production.
Names in the Leading Roles
Sophia Zonni and Jana Kepeska will alternate in portraying the role of Nikiya, the Temple Dancer, among the leading roles of the production. Francisco Gimenez Ruiz, the principal dancer of the National Ballet of Macedonia, will appear before the audience in the role of Solor.
International Artist Participation
Young dancers from Canada, Spain, and North Macedonia, originating from the State Conservatory of North Macedonia, will accompany the company's Turkish young ballet artist members in the status of guest artists.
Set, Costume, and Performance Information
While the set applications of the work are carried out by Elavate design, the costumes belong to the State Conservatory of North Macedonia. La Bayadère can be viewed at the Kadıköy Municipality Süreyya Opera House on September 23 at the 17:00 and 20:30 sessions.
