Divers in Indonesia have recovered three more bodies from the wreckage of a ferry that capsized in the Java Sea. With this development, the death number of those who lost their lives in the accident rose to nine, while search and rescue operations for 126 missing people continue.
Divers' Wreckage Operations
As part of the ongoing operations in the region, divers entered the ferry's wreckage through a window and reached the lifeless bodies of two men and a woman. It was announced that these retrieved bodies will be transported to Banjarmasin.
Ferry Voyage Details
The ferry named Virgo Transport 8 was involved in the accident while sailing from Surabaya in East Java to Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan on the island of Borneo. The captain had called for help, reporting that the ship had listed due to waves reaching up to three meters and severe weather conditions.
Status of Missing and Survivors
According to the official passenger manifest, there were a total of 243 people on board, consisting of 213 passengers and 30 crew members. According to statements made by authorities, a total of 108 people were rescued alive after the incident.
