The 10th İzmir International Literature Festival, organized by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality between September 24-27 under the theme "Literature Heals", has come to an end. Over the four-day event, literature enthusiasts met with numerous panels, documentary screenings, and theatrical plays.

The Beginning and Theme of the Festival

Realized this year by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality with the theme "Literature Heals", the festival was held from September 24 to 27. The organization, which brought literature together with different art disciplines for four days, was directed by poet Haydar Ergülen.

The guests of honor of the festival, managed by poet Haydar Ergülen, were Alberto Manguel and Zülfü Livaneli. Within the scope of the opening program, awards for the poetry, story, and essay competition aimed at high school students also found their owners.

Various Events and Panels

Events that started at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center continued at the İzmir Arts and Culture Center, Bergama Cultural Center, and venues in various parts of the city. The festival theme was explored through panels, documentaries, theater, and various meetings.

The session titled "Does Literature Heal?" by Alberto Manguel and Zülfü Livaneli attracted intense interest. Additionally, figures such as Ahmet İnam, Tarık Tufan, İlhan Sami Çomak, and Ayşe Acar gave speeches on various topics.

Documentary Screenings and Theater

One of the standout events of the festival was the screening of the documentary directed by Nebil Özgentürk, depicting the life of Zülfü Livaneli. Thanks to the screen set up outdoors, the production reached broader audiences.

Tolga Oskar's documentary "Nilgün", focusing on Nilgün Marmara, and Murat Çidamlı's play "Piraye" were also among the other works featured in the program that drew great interest.
