Karayazı, filmed in Erzurum, will compete at Golden Orange

Directed by Ahmet Duvar and filmed in the Tekman district of Erzurum, the short film Karayazı has been selected for the National Short Film Competition of the 63rd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, preparing to hold its world premiere.

Entered the Golden Orange Selection

The short film Karayazı, shot in Erzurum, has earned the right to compete at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, one of Turkey's long-standing cinema organizations.

As one of 10 productions selected out of 267 submissions, the film will make its premiere in Turkey and its world premiere within the scope of the festival.

A Story of Harsh Winter Conditions

The film addresses the problem of graves not being able to be dug due to the freezing of the soil under Erzurum's harsh winter conditions, and the conflict this situation creates.

When five grave plots previously prepared by the village headman become insufficient due to the consecutive deaths of elderly residents, the villagers are left to face a difficult decision.

Filming Took Place in Tekman

The production's filming was carried out under challenging weather conditions in the Tekman district of Erzurum during the winter months of 2025.

The shooting process received support from the Tekman District Governorate, the Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality, and the residents of Toptepe village.

TRT and Ministry Support

Supported by the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the production was brought to life by İstanbul Sinema Evi in partnership with TRT.

The Karayazı project had previously won the Short Film Production Award in TRT's 12 Punto program.
