Kurdish cinema's first family comedy Mali Nene released

Mali Nene, the first family- and education-focused comedy film in Kurdish cinema, met audiences with a special gala held at Sulaimani City Cinema. The production, which focuses on the entertaining adventures of a painter grandfather and his three grandchildren in the same house, premiered in all cinemas across the region as of August 27.

Entertaining intergenerational conflict

Directed by Muhammad Mustafa, the film tells the story of three mischievous grandchildren who settle into their grandfather's and grandmother's house after their parents go abroad. The grandfather, who tries to paint in a quiet environment, and the endless energy of the children reflect the Kurdish family structure onto the silver screen with a humorous language.

Scientifically grounded script

Producer Bahoz Nasreddin stated that the film is not only an entertainment tool but also a pedagogical educational material. Supervised in its script by psychologist Dr. Muhammad Khani, the production was designed as a work that families can watch with confidence, having received scientific approval in terms of child development.

Cast and production

Completed with a 75-day shooting process by Metronom Production, the film was brought to life with a budget of 200,000 dollars. In the production, whose leading roles are shared by Helwest Jamal and Helian Sherzad, child actors Hetwan, Zin, and Dire received great acclaim from the audience for their performances.
