Kütahya Archaeology and Mining Museum Opened with a Ceremony
Opening with the participation of Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the new museum will bring thousands of years of history and rich cultural heritage together with visitors.
The Kütahya Archaeology and Mining Museum was officially opened with the participation of Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. The new cultural center houses rich collections that shed light on the city's deep-rooted past.
Opening Ceremony and Speeches
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that he was happy to bring a special culture and art venue to the city, which carries the ancient civilizational heritage of Anatolia with its deep-rooted history extending from the Phrygians to Rome and Byzantium, and from the Seljuks to the Germiyanids and the Ottomans.
Minister Ersoy reminded that museum studies in Kütahya have a 90-year history, stating that thousands of years of heritage harbored by these lands have come to light and the number of artifacts has started to increase day by day.
Thematic Sections of the Museum
The Kütahya Archaeology and Mining Museum has been divided into different themes in order to offer its visitors rich content.
In this newly established structure, there are a total of five different themes: Archaeology, City and Ethnography, Tile, Mining, and Children.
Rich Artifact Collection and Exhibits
A total of 62,701 artifacts, including 30,959 archaeological artifacts, 4,078 ethnographic artifacts, and 27,664 coins, are preserved in the museum collection.
Approximately 3,300 artifacts selected from the wide collection are directly presented for visitors to view.
Important Historical Pieces and Hajj Certificates
Among the special pieces that attract attention in the collection are historical artifacts found in the Parmakören Village Mosque in 2022.
In this context, Hajj Certificates containing depictions of Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem dating back to 1816-1817 are also among the precious artifacts exhibited in the museum.
