Master artist Ruhi Su, one of the pioneers of Turkey's polyphonic music tradition, will be commemorated in Istanbul with two separate events to be held on the 41st anniversary of his passing. The commemoration program, which will take place on Sunday, September 20, consists of a memorial tomb ceremony in Zincirlikuyu and a concert in Kartal.
Memorial Tomb Ceremony in Zincirlikuyu
The commemoration program will begin at 12:00 with a ceremony at the Ruhi Su Memorial Tomb in Zincirlikuyu. Organized by the Ruhi Su Culture and Art Association, the program will recall the artist's life, art, and cultural heritage.
Commemoration Concert to Take Place in Kartal
The second event of the day will be held at 20:00 at the Kartal Bülent Ecevit Cultural Center. Organized by the IMM Department of Culture, Arts and Social Affairs, the night will bring the artist's heritage together with music lovers.
Performing Names and Choirs
The concert, featuring the Ruhi Su Friends Choir, will be directed by Conductor Nursel Dinler Yazman. Erdem Oral, Özgür Kıyat, and Ferda Ereren will take part in the event as guest artists.
