The newly released trailer showcases footage from the shoots in Mosul and presents striking scenes reflecting the dramatic events in the film to moviegoers.
Selected as Iraq's Official Entry for the 2027 Academy Awards
Following the great interest it received at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, the film was designated by the Iraqi Ministry of Culture as the country's official entry for the 2027 Academy Awards.
Based on true events, the production addresses the experiences of the war waged against ISIS, shedding light particularly on the role and struggle of female Peshmerga fighters.
Details of the Struggle Set Amidst the Ruins of Mosul
In the film, Kurdish actress Avan Cemal portrays "Viyan," a Peshmerga sniper trying to find and rescue her sister amidst the ruins of Mosul.
The production also features a large international and local cast, including Norwegian actor Torbjørn Harr.
Red Carpet and Theatrical Release Schedule Confirmed
The red carpet ceremony to be held prior to the special screening is planned to take place in Erbil on Saturday with the participation of the director, the film crew, and numerous well-known artists.
Starting from September 22, the film will meet audiences in movie theaters across the cities of Erbil, Sulaimaniyah, and Duhok.
