Özgür Eryılmaz's exhibition "Synchronous Human", which addresses the relationships human beings establish with themselves and others through layers of emptiness, fullness, and time, has opened its doors at Ankara CerModern.
The Balance of Emptiness and Fullness
In the artist's paintings, emptiness does not merely form the areas surrounding the figures; it constitutes the ground for thoughts, encounters, and conflicts. Fullness, on the other hand, emerges through the accumulation of lived time and social relationships.
Topological Time Concept
Instead of linear time, a topological time fiction in which the past, present, and future meet on the same surface is adopted in the works. This approach allows different layers within the painting to be read.
The Stage Arrangement of Shadow
In the exhibition, the element of shadow is treated beyond being a dark area, as a playful element that animates the figurative narrative. In this respect, the works resemble a theater stage.
Artist's Biography
Born in Gümüşhane in 1972, Özgür Eryılmaz completed his education at Karadeniz Technical University and Çukurova University. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions both domestically and abroad.
