Samsun State Opera and Ballet Staged the Opera Cavalleria Rusticana
Pietro Mascagni's famous work Cavalleria Rusticana was presented to art lovers in Samsun and received great interest.
The Samsun State Opera and Ballet brought Italian composer Pietro Mascagni's classic opera Cavalleria Rusticana to audiences at the Aydın Gün Stage of the Samsun Atatürk Cultural Center.
Subject and Significance of the Work
Depicting a forbidden love in a Sicilian village and the destruction it causes, the work is considered among the masterpieces of the Verismo movement, which embraces realism and naturalism in Italian opera. Mascagni's work, which premiered in 1890, receives great acclaim.
Stage and Art Team
In the production directed by Ayşe Dağıstanlı Parlar, the SAMDOB orchestra under the direction of conductor Patrick David Murray and the SAMDOB choir under the direction of choir master Maria Chekriekchieva accompanied the soloists. Dilara Tanrıverdi Doğan served as the concertmaster.
