Sinopale 10 Dates and Basic Information
The Sinop Biennial is being brought to life in 2026 between September 2 and November 15. While the start of the production process is set as September 2, the opening of the main exhibition takes place on September 25.
The Origin of the Theme Reason on Land, Intuition at Sea
The biennial takes its title from a Sinopian fisherman's saying, Reason on land, intuition at sea. This local knowledge, passed down from generation to generation, focuses on how decisions are made in times of uncertainty and how communal life is established.
The Production Process Starting Before the Exhibition
The Sinopale 10 calendar begins operating weeks before the doors of the main exhibition open. Starting from September 2, artists come to Sinop to produce their works together with local artisans, city residents, communities, and youth.
Co-Curators and International Participating Artists
While the tenth edition is prepared with a structure where four names work on an equal plane, Deniz Kırkalı, Mariam Natroshvili, Marina Fokidis, and T. Melih Görgün take part in the program as co-curators. Bringing together approximately 25 artists from different geographies in Sinop, the event features numerous names and collectives carrying out collaborative productions.
Event Venues and Public Program
The program shaped around the main exhibition spreads to different points of the city with performances, film screenings, workshops, and public events. The Hal Sinop Meeting Center, Sinop Sabahattin Ali Culture Center, and the Sinop Chamber of Architects Building are among the other stops of the biennial.
