Solidarity Concert in Hatay: Karsu and Choirs Performed at Sümerler Amphitheater

At the "Melody of Solidarity: Stronger Together" concert organized by the European Union in Hatay, jazz-pop artist Karsu took the stage with local choirs at the Sümerler Amphitheater to meet music lovers.

High Interest in the Concert

A free concert was organized by the European Union in Hatay under the title "Melody of Solidarity: Stronger Together". Free tickets distributed via digital platforms for the event sold out in a short time, and an LED screen was set up outside the amphitheater for those following it from outside.

Opening Speeches Delivered

The event at the Sümerler Amphitheater was opened by Defne Mayor Halil İbrahim Özgün, followed by a speech by EU Ambassador Aivo Orav. Orav emphasized that culture is an important part of the post-earthquake recovery process.

Choir Performances

The concert began with the Hatay Academy Children's and Youth Choir performing the "Canon of Friends". During the night, the Serinyol Hand in Hand Solidarity Association Choir (SEDYAD Choir) also took the stage, offering a musical feast to the participants.

Emotional Moments Experienced

As artist Karsu performed her repertoire consisting of Turkish and English songs, those who lost their lives in the February 6, 2023 earthquakes were also commemorated. Hundreds of people in the venue accompanied Karsu as she sang the folk song "Neredesin Sen".

Special Duets Took Place

Karsu shared the stage with visually impaired SEDYAD Choir member Şükrü Can Çapar for the song "Caddelerde Rüzgâr". At the end of the night, Karsu and the choirs performed beloved songs together.

Women's Cooperatives Visited

Before the concert, Karsu and EU Ambassador Aivo Orav visited women's cooperatives benefiting from an EU-supported project. Members of the Soteria Women's Cooperative presented Karsu with a portrait made using the stone mosaic technique.
