Step for Cooperation in Culture and Art Between Turkey and Uzbekistan
As a result of high-level contacts held in Tashkent, a new memorandum of understanding covering concrete projects was signed between the two countries.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, who traveled to Tashkent for the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, met with Uzbekistan's Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov and signed a comprehensive cooperation memorandum of understanding in the field of culture and art.
Critical Ministerial-Level Meeting in Tashkent
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy met with Uzbekistan's Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov in Tashkent, where he was present for the 35th anniversary events of Uzbekistan's independence. The meeting aimed to deepen relations between the two countries.
The two ministers evaluated in detail joint working opportunities in the fields of cultural heritage preservation, restoration, archaeology, performing arts, and cinema.
Visit to the Center of Islamic Civilization and Planning
Accompanied by his counterpart Nazarbekov, Minister Ersoy visited the Center of Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan and received information about the ongoing works.
During the talks at the visit, it was decided to develop relations between the two countries with concrete projects within the framework of the 2026-2027 Cultural Cooperation Plan.
Shared Heritage and Archaeological Studies
It was decided to increase the exchange of experts and experience in restoration and conservation fields in order to protect the common cultural heritage.
It was envisaged that Uzbek researchers would participate in the Archaeology Summer School within the scope of the Taş Tepeler Project and that Turkish archaeologists would take a more active role in excavations in Uzbekistan.
Joint Production Agenda in the Cinema Sector
Joint production projects were discussed to increase cooperation in the field of cinema, and the importance of initiating the shooting process of the film 'Bahadurs of Turkistan' was emphasized.
It was stated that the implementation of the Audiovisual Joint Production Agreement would carry the partnership between the cinema sectors of the two countries further.
Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Gala
Following the bilateral and inter-delegational meetings, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Culture was signed between the Directorate General of Fine Arts and the Uzbekistan Philharmonic Orchestra.
Minister Ersoy will also attend the 35th Independence Anniversary Gala Concert of Uzbekistan to be organized at the International Forums Palace of Uzbekistan.
