The Terakki Foundation Art Gallery is preparing to host an important exhibition curated by Itır Demir. The exhibition titled "After the Master: Encounters, Dialogues, Divergences", which can be visited between September 7 and October 24, 2026, brings together the works of 22 artists selected from the foundation's own art collection.
The exhibition will feature works by important names in Turkish painting, such as Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Burhan Temel, Burhan Uygur, Dinçer Erimez, Erol Deran, Fikret Mualla, Halil Dikmen, Hanefi Yeter, Hüseyin Bilişik, Kainat Barkan Pajonk, Komet, Leyla Gamsız, Malik Aksel, Mehmet Pesen, Memduh Kuzay, Naile Akıncı, Nevin Çokay, Özdemir Altan, Sabri Berkel, Şevket Dağ, Yusuf Katipoğlu, and Zehra Aral.
Artistic Interaction Between Master and Student
The exhibition examines how artists from different generations, whose paths crossed as teacher and student, influenced each other and how they developed their own unique styles over time by breaking free from these influences. Instead of establishing a hierarchical teacher-student relationship, it focuses on the mutual dialogues and artistic divergences of the artists.
Concrete examples of this interaction include the different reflections of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu's abstract style with Anatolian motifs on his students Yusuf Katipoğlu and Zehra Aral. Similarly, the transformation of Halil Dikmen's geometric abstract style by his student Dinçer Erimez into a unique line referencing the subconscious can also be observed in the exhibition.
